Packaging Designer Leeds

Packaging design, branding and illustration for Yorkshire based gin drink brand Brooke’s.

Packaging Designer Leeds

Brooke’s are an independent farm shop based in North Yorkshire. I was approached by the guys, as they were looking for a packaging designer to design their latest gin packaging labels. I designed a traditional, yet modern style for the packaging, and created custom illustrations for the front/back of packs. The Gin is now available exclusively from the farm shop, as well as local retailers.

Spirits & Gin Packaging Design UK

Packaging design within the premium spirits and craft drinks sector needs to balance several important elements:

• Premium shelf appeal
• Strong brand storytelling
• Distinctive visual identity
• High-quality illustration and design
• Consistency across future product ranges

For Brooke’s, the goal was to create packaging design that felt premium, handcrafted, and distinctive while remaining commercially effective within the growing craft gin category.

The packaging system also needed to reinforce the local heritage of the brand while creating a strong visual presence on shelf.

THE CHALLENGE

The main challenge was creating gin packaging design that felt authentic and premium without relying on the generic visual styles often seen within the craft spirits market.

Many gin brands use similar botanical illustrations and traditional design cues, making it difficult to create genuine differentiation.

The objective was to develop a unique visual identity that balanced tradition with a more contemporary and memorable design approach.

THE SOLUTION

We began by exploring the product positioning, target audience, and competitive landscape.

From there, I developed:

• Packaging label design
• Brand identity refinements
• Custom hand-drawn illustrations
• Colour palette development
• Typography systems
• Scalable packaging assets for future products

The final design direction combines bespoke illustrations with a premium packaging layout, creating a strong visual identity that feels both modern and rooted in the brand's Yorkshire heritage.

THE OUTCOME

The result is a distinctive branding and packaging design system that positions Brooke’s as a premium craft gin brand with strong local appeal.

The packaging design improves shelf visibility, strengthens brand recognition, and creates a more memorable customer experience.

The flexible visual system also provides a strong foundation for future drinks products and flavour extensions.
