food packaging design
Food packaging design for startup snack brand Mini Alo. The company reached out because they were looking for a UK-based packaging designer to develop their branding and packaging for a new healthy snack range. Mini Alo make natural, wholesome snacks for both kids and adults, so they needed a look that felt friendly yet confidently approachable for all ages. I created a clean, simple logo featuring a halo, and developed illustrative, playful packaging that showcases the ingredients to appeal to parents and children alike while helping the brand stand out clearly on shelf.

Food Packaging Design for Healthy Snack Brands UK
Packaging design within the healthy snack category needs to balance several important elements:
Friendly and approachable branding
Clear ingredient communication
Strong shelf visibility
Family-friendly packaging design systems
Consistency across multiple flavours and products
For Mini Alo, the goal was to create a visual identity that felt playful and engaging while still maintaining a clean and contemporary retail appearance.
The packaging design also needed to appeal to both parents and children while clearly communicating the natural and wholesome positioning of the products.
THE CHALLENGE
The main challenge was creating a healthy snack brand identity that could appeal to multiple audiences without feeling overly childish or overly premium.
Many snack brands either focus heavily on children’s branding or take a more serious health-focused approach, making it difficult to strike the right balance between playful and trustworthy.
The objective was to create a distinctive packaging system that felt modern, approachable, and visually engaging while maintaining strong shelf visibility and clear product communication.
THE SOLUTION
We began with brand strategy and positioning to define how Mini Alo should sit within the healthy snacks market.
From there, I developed:
A clean and approachable logo design
A playful halo visual device
Illustrative packaging graphics
Ingredient-led packaging layouts
A simple and scalable visual identity system
The final design direction creates a recognisable and family-friendly brand identity designed to stand out within busy retail environments while maintaining strong visual consistency across the range.
THE OUTCOME
The result is a cohesive food branding and packaging design system that positions Mini Alo as a modern healthy snack brand with strong retail and e-commerce appeal.
The packaging design helps communicate the natural and wholesome nature of the products while creating a more playful and approachable visual identity for both children and adults.
The flexible packaging system is designed to scale across future snack products and flavour ranges.
